Reviews:

Ugly Lovely, The Old Red Lion, 2016

★★★★ "Ugly Lovely is excellent from tip to toe: giving London audiences a visceral and hilarious peek into a world little seen on stage. It's political without being preachy, subtly feminist and has a heart as big as a whale without indulging in sentimentality... Socks were knocked off. Jaws were dropped. Heads spun. It was ace." - London City Nights

"A vodka-soaked story of life in Swansea. From the accents to the details, this is a world Jones clearly knows and owns. The grimy tableau feels totally authentic." - Time Out

★★★★ "Ffion Jones has written a witty, bittersweet, laugh-out-loud funny play that doesn’t shy away from coarse language and is certainly not one for the kids. If you’re easily offended, then stay away but if you like the sound of a night out with Shell and Tash then you won’t be disappointed." - West End Wilma

★★★★ "Ffion Jones' script is sparky and manages to convey great humour and laugh-out-loud moments" - LondonTheatre1

"Gritty take on a coming of age tale...A fiery Welsh energy and wit." - The Stage

Ugly Lovely Excerpt, Southwark Playhouse, 2015

"One of the two stand out pieces of the night written by Ffion Jones is Ugly Lovely. ... What Jones has written is a duologue that forces us to recognise similar characters in our own lives, exaggerating them, but also make them highly likeable. Combined with the pair’s genius acting skills, Ugly Lovely was one of the highlights of the evening." - A Younger Theatre
